As part of a multimedia report on racial inequities black women and infants are experiencing in Oakland, California, I made an audio slideshow chronicling the relationship between a black doula and her pregnant client, who is also black.

 

Many pregnant people of color in Oakland are seeking solutions outside of the traditional healthcare system to ensure quality and consistency of care. Working with a doula is one of those potential solutions.
